GLG has provided laser scanning services to obtain point clouds for as-built construction analysis, volume calculations, and many other uses.
Laser scanning captures complex structural data such as piping and wiring conduits quickly and accurately.
Scanners can operate in challenging physical situations, such as in confined spaces, under bridges, on platforms, and within pipes.
Viable scanner operation extends to most hazardous environments where human access is still permitted (except explosive atmospheres and some other emergency situations).
GLG has provided laser scanning services for a wide variety of utilities projects, including a potable water pumping station, steam facilities, and electric lines.
Great Lake Geomatics team laser scanned a complex assembly of overhead transmission lines for DTE Energy in Detroit. The resulting digital database allowed DTE to easily determine elevation and sag of the lines, among other things, without physically returning to the site. The measurements were used to support a facility reconfiguration project.
Steam manhole pits covering a large portion of the facility were to be scanned, but the effort was complicated by the Lab’s strict ‘No Confined Space Entry’ policy.By inverting the scanner and lowering it into each of the structures, we were able to obtain full scan coverage and meet all requirements.
We were contracted by the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department to survey a large potable water pumping station.
Laser scanning technology was used to create a spatially accurate and complete 3D model of the facility.
GREAT LAKES GEOMATICS can support your project with complete land surveying and laser scanning services.
