About Us

WHO WE ARE

Great Lakes Geomatics was created by a purchase of the land surveying and laser scanning assets of METCO services, Inc. in 2010. Since then, we’ve been fortunate to travel the world and work on some really fascinating projects (Easter Island) in addition to serving our local communities and contributing to the development of some of our local gems (Campus Martius). Our focus on commercial clients in Southeast Michigan and the Great Lakes Region stems from our desire to see the Mitten State and the Detroit Metropolitan area thrive and prosper.

  • Our focus is on commercial clients in Southeast Michigan and the Great Lakes Region
  • We own multiple Leica Geosystems Scanners
  • We have provided laser scanning services for automotive, industrial, engineering, and public utility clients

We were one of the first land surveying firms to maximize the potential of 3D Laser Scanning and point cloud technology since it’s been introduced. Laser Scanning and the use of point cloud data has enabled us to provide accurate as-built data, help eliminate work interruptions, and create more cost-effective solutions for our clients. We own multiple Leica Geosystems Scanners and can deploy the most efficient scanner for each specific job.

Great Lakes Geomatics supplied the lead construction layout services for Ford Field, Comerica Park, and the 285 million dollar improvement project at Waterworks Park. Our field staff also provided construction survey services for the MGM Grand Casino and the Greektown Casino, and has worked on the design surveys and construction layout for over 3,000 ADA ramps in the City of Detroit. Our team of employees provided ALTA/ACSM Land Title surveys to the Detroit 300 Conservancy for five city blocks in the downtown area including Campus Martius Park.

We are responsible for the laser scanning of 3.4 miles of Woodward Avenue for the proposed M-1 Light Rail System as well as the design survey work for the MDOT Gateway project. Great Lakes Geomatics has extensive experience working with many City of Detroit Departments including Department of Public Works, Survey Bureau, Engineering, Traffic, Buildings and Safety, Downtown Building Authority, Economic Growth, Assessor’s Office, and others.
